Baking Homemade PretzelsWe love baking and I love recipes! I found this one and thought it would be fun to make with my little 2-year-old. Emma was able to mix the batter and play a little bit with the dough as I formed the pretzels (yes, it got messy). The purpose was to spend time with her and make something special together. The pretzels turned out tasty and I will definitely be using this recipe again! Thank you "Sally's Baking Addiction"!!

I can't take all the credit for this one. I heard about this idea from a friend (who also gave me the idea to use a scarf as a "balance beam") and I thought it would be fun to give-it-a-go. Emma really enjoyed this one and it's pretty much all up to you and your creativity! Use any items you have in the home to create a mini "obstacle" course for your child. Can use pillows, scarves, boxes, crates, tables, benches- we even used our high-chair! We did ours in the living room. It got Emma moving and she had a fun time doing it. And yes, I tryed it out as well! Spend some time creating it and then playing with it. Your child will love it! |
Dancing in our Living Room
Have some fun with your child as you turn on some tunes and dance around the living room! It's great exercise for both children and adults. We have fun doing it and hope you will too! Photo-Session!
As you may be aware, besides being a homeschooler, I am also a photographer in the Dallas area and I love, LOVE capturing moments of my little girl. Whether you know how to take photos or not, go out there and have a little fun capturing images of your crazy kid. You can do this activity while participating in another activity or just create your own little photo-shoot with props as the activity. Show them to him/her and take time to tell them how much you love them! |
Playing Outside With Chalk
Take some time to go outside-can be next to your home on the sidewalk, or in case you live in an apartment, your patio/balcony area. Use chalk to draw shapes and images on the pavement. Write our his/her name, let them scribble and have fun! Be Creative! **Our balcony area has chalk scribble all over and i'm not even worried that it hasn't washed off! |
Mini-International Activity
I thought it would be fun to get our little girl acquainted with other cultures and their foods. I'm sure through our learning we will get more into this but I decided to have an international activity to start off. I started off by talking to her about other countries. I showed her this video and explained how there are other countries all over the world with different customs and foods.. Try this video out to start out with this activity:
For our activity, we focused on Spain so I showed her where that was and let her know we would be baking something from Spain, called "Cocotets".
**Pick any country and food from that country when doing this activity. I had already prepared sauce, dough and got the tuna ready so when we did the activity, Emma was able to fill the dough with the ingredients and help me shape the "Cocotets". "Cocotets" are a common food in Spain and are simple to make. If you'd like to make this recipe, feel free to look under the image to my right. Hopefully this activity will encourage you to help your child understand the various cultures all over the world and perhaps you can pick various foods to make together each week. It's enjoyable and delicious! |

Thank-You Card/Special Note
Has anyone showed kindness to you or your family or do you simply just want to make others happy? Take time to draw and color on paper with your little one and use this activity to show somebody else that you care. Emphasize the fact that you are doing this for somebody else.
We did not make the thank-you card ( another talented individual made that) but I wrote a note inside the card while my little one colored on construction paper. We cut-out hearts using the paper my little one used to color and stuck those inside the card. I will deliver the card and hope that this activity will teach my little one to take time to make others happy, as well as create something beautiful! Try it out! Need: construction paper, crayons/colored pencils, scissors, a thank-you-card or anything else that you want to use for the service activity. |
Shape-Cutout Activity
Need: gluesticks, scissors, colored pencils + construction paper
Cut-out some shapes for your child. Have them glue the shapes on their own construction paper. Have them color their paper once they have glued the shapes on. Our daughter really enjoyed this one(especially using the glue-stick) and we were able to review shapes at the same time! |
